Specimen Type: Swab

Collection Container/Tube: Cotton Swab in Red Top
Specimen Volume: Swab in Container

Collection Instructions:

1. Collect using sterile cotton swab and place in plain red top tube (no gel)

with no more than .5 ml or 1/4" of saline.

2. Label specimen with patient’s full name, date of birth, date & time of collection and collection site.

3. Keep at room temperature, and deliver to lab immediately.

One hour at Room Temperature

Detects: Bacteria, Trichomonas, Clue cells, Yeast, WBC, RBC, Epithelial cells in vaginal samples.

Trichomonas, Clue Cells and Yeast reported as: Present or Not present

Bacteria, WBC, RBC, and Epithelial cells reported as: None seen, rare, few, moderate or many.
