Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Blood
Container/Tube: Pink (K2 EDTA) 

Specimen Volume: Full tube
Specimen Minimum Volume: 5 mL
Collection Instructions:

This test can only be collected by specially trained members of NCH.

Patients must be banded with blood bank band with a specific band number that matches the specimen used for testing if compatibility testing is in consideration. 

Stability

Test as soon as possible after collection. Clotted samples or those collected in EDTA may be tested within 10 days from collection if stored Refrigerated.

Reference Range

Reported as:

ABO: AB, A, B or O

Rh: Negative or Positive

Antibody screen: Negative or Positive. If Positive, additional testing will be performed with a reflex to Antibody Identification.
