Clostridium Difficile (C.Diff)

Important Note

*This test is orderable in Cerner as Clostridium Difficile (GeneXpert)

All Positive results reflex to C. diff EIA antigen testing.

Please note formed stool specimens are unsuitable for analysis and will be rejected. 

Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: stool

Container/Tube:

     Place liquid or soft stool specimen in a sterile cup/container with a secure lid. 

Specimen Volume: 0.5 mL  
Specimen Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL
 

Stability

Transport to lab within 3-4 hours of collection. Samples may be stored refrigerated for up to 5 days prior to testing.
