Specimen Type: Whole blood-Clotted blood is not acceptable.
Container/Tube: Dark-green top or light-green top (lithium heparin)

Specimen Volume: 2 mL

Collection Instructions:

1. Expel air bubbles and cap-Air bubble is not acceptable.

2. Immediately place tube on wet ice.

3. Do NOT spin or open tube until testing is performed.

Analyze immediately after collection. Samples older than 20 minutes should be placed on ice.

pH: 7.32-7.43

pCO2: 33-47 mmHg

CO2 Total: no reference range established

Base Excess: no reference range established

Sodium Lvl Ven: 136-145 mmol/L

Potassium Lvl Ven: 3.5-5.1 mmol/L
